cover for 3rd project

after a week of playing around with this thing in my head, and having had to come up with an acceptable modification of my original design without totally scrapping it, i can finally say that this piece is more or less done. all i need are the text that i'll be including in the final layout upon their transmittal to moi.

as i've said before, i would have preferred the original design but then i must defer to the client's wishes. i don't think it turned out that bad, anyway.

if you're wondering why it took me this long to make it, the simple answer is that the drawing was really so detailed that i had a hard time applying the colors. now, the reason i embedded that much detail is because this was supposed to be for a wall calendar. that plan was scrapped too and instead a desk calendar was decided on. it'd take me forever to make a new one so i had to stick with this fella.

just to prove how detailed this piece is, here are a few of my favorite parts:

i like the fact that the girl here is so near the star
that she can almost touch it.
her hand's even begun to burn. smoking!

i have a scarf like this one. i thought it'd look cool on this guy.

this is my absolute favorite: a kick-ass passenger jeepney.

even the art papers are properly placed
so that no two same colors are beside each other.

...and FINALLY!

...now, i'm off to make some of the drawings INSIDE the calendar. 5 illustrations plus layout in less than 2 days. gotta have a lotta to luck pull this one off!

and oh yeah. tessa's making 7 other illustrations. :)
