what i love about u.p.

(aside from the trees along the academic oval :P)

The fact that it seems perfectly okay for (anonymous) persons to paint aliens and blobs (or whatever they are) on university property:

Photo taken by our blockmate Paul

Paintings like this one are scattered along the Ikot route, on posts, walls, etc.; there’s also one of a large blue octopus on a water tank across Romulo Hall (Muslim Studies).

The black-and-white figures painted over the “alien” murals are relatively recent. (Yikes, the aliens are endangered. Kuhanan na natin bago mawala ng tuluyan. ;))

I’m just wondering: who made these? Were these sanctioned?

P.S. Check out Electrolychee’s Nike mural painting here. (They say you can view it at Boni Serrano St. corner Katipunan Ave. for one month.) Cheers.

i think those "aliens" are much like "MMDA art"..pang-cover ng mga "ibagsak ang... at viva...!"

yikes, totoo, alpha?! in that case, then they're not really as symbolic of 'free expression' in u.p. as i would liketo believe. somehow this *bursts my bubble*.
